A couple of weeks ago, I had a session with one of my returning client families who have since had another adorable daughter since our first family portrait session together. The girls were so much fun to photograph and it was really tough for me to even choose which photos were my favorites from our session. Here are my top favorites to share with you today….
I recently shot a portrait session with a wonderful family at Westmoor Park. This couple has three very handsome boys and we had a great time capturing some shots of each boy and the family together as well. I always loving shooting at this location, as there are so many great options for backgrounds to shoot in front of. Here are a few of my favorite shots from our session:
I recently shot a session with one of my regular clients at the beautiful Wethersfield Cove. Since this is Father’s Day weekend, I thought I’d highlight some of the fun father/son shots I captured that day. I hope all of my clients and readers have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!! Here are a few of my favorites…..
I had the opportunity to photograph two beautiful sisters the other day and they had the most fabulous hair and skin that I’ve maybe ever seen!! They just can’t take a bad photo!
This shoot makes me think about often families stop getting photos taken of their children once they hit middle school age. This shoot should be a reminder of why it is so important to keep taking those photos of your children before they are grown and gone. They may not be little kids anymore, but they are still your babies and you will want to remember them at all phases (on a side note, they are super easy to photograph at this age because they don’t run away from the camera anymore….even if they might want to 😉

This is a little bit different of a post for me….usually, I will post multiple samples from a recent shoot as a preview for the family and for all those readers who visit my blog regularly. But this post is going to be a little different. This family is one that is special to me in a different way than all of my other clients. They are actually the first clients that hired me when I started my business six and a half years ago! And they have shot with me every year since, sometimes even more than one shoot per year. I wanted to share one photo from each shoot I’ve done with them (though I am missing a sample from one of the shoots because I cannot find it in my old archives) But this post has one family photo from 8 of the 9 shoots we’ve done together. Not only do these photos document the great changes in their family through the years (from 3 to 6 beautiful children now!), but they also document the evolution of my work and style over time. It is also is a great sampling of how to plan fantastic wardrobe themes for your family! These clients are phenomenal at this!
For all of those people who let time get away from them and don’t get around to taking family photos, let this family be an inspiration to you. It is not easy to do….it requires some planning for sure. You must call and book a session at least two months before you want to have your shoot. Then you need to plan a wardrobe for your family(which I provide you with support and guidance on). Then you will need to get the kids dressed, ready, and to the shoot without tears, spills, injuries, or other last minute debacles(which likely will happen anyway, despite all your best efforts!!). Finally, you must get through the shoot, which isn’t always a walk in the park (no pun intended!) If you have kids(especially more than one), there is a high likelihood that someone will not cooperate, will cry, will not look at the camera when you want them to. It is just the way it goes!
But despite the investment of time, money, and fortitude that it takes to make it happen, it is SOOOOOOOO worth it in the end! Just look at the amazing gift this family has given to itself! Many years from now, when the kids are all grown and moved away, they will look back on these photos and know the deep blessing that they have been given in life. And I am so deeply honored to be a part of documenting these amazing moments and changes from year to year.
If you haven’t been taking annual photos of your family, don’t be discouraged. It is okay if you missed some years, but don’t miss any more! I am not taking any more bookings for this fall, but I do still shoot some beautiful winter sessions in the snow, if you are brave enough! I also start booking in February for my spring sessions, so be sure to contact me then. Make this your New Year’s resolution and be sure to get on the schedule early. I look forward to making these memories last forever for you!
I LOVE when I have the opportunity to photograph my friends and their children, so I was very excited to shoot this fall photo session with good friends of mine a couple of weeks ago at Elizabeth Park. The foliage was amazing, the weather perfect, and the whole family looked fabulous! Such an honor to be able to capture these moments for them in photos…. I hope that these photos will be a treasured part of their family for many generations to come:-)
