Back in February, I had a session that was given as a gift to a mother/grandmother for her birthday. The women and girls in the family were having a ladies only weekend of celebrating, so they invited me to come and take some photos of the whole group to commemorate this special milestone birthday. It was absolutely freezing outside, so we decided to stay indoors and get some beautiful shots of everyone as a group and as individuals. If you have a parent/grandparent who will be celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or even Mother’s/Father’s Day, this is a wonderful gift idea and is something that the recipient will treasure for years to come. Here are a few shots from our session:
It has been a long, long time since I wrote anything on this blog. To be honest, I hit the wall around mid November. My photo shoot/editing schedule was so insane, that it literally took every free minute of every day for an entire month to get everything done that I needed to do. Though I intended to retroactively blog all of those missed sessions, I just couldn’t tear myself away from my family for the rest of December and January. I had been absent for far too long from family time, so I spent those first 6 weeks of winter just focusing on my family and taking a break from shooting so that I could come back refreshed and ready for 2014.
But now it is February and I am officially back! I have also have something new I’d like to do more often in 2014….I have two different sources (which I will blog more about later) that have inspired me to share at least one real, raw moment from my sessions. One moment in time where there wasn’t perfection…but the reality is beautiful and perfect in it’s imperfection. Today’s real shot came towards the end of our session. The baby was really crying and screaming at this point. She had been a champ for the full two hours, but was hungry and ready to be done with her shoot. We still had a few family shots to do, so we were working overtime to calm the baby down so we could get those photos. In the real moment shot that I included below, the baby’s dad gave her a snuggle and kiss in the midst of her screaming. It was so sweet, and real too. I hope you enjoy the photos and I am excited to be back sharing my work with everyone:-) So here is a little preview from my first newborn session of 2014:
I had a fantastic holiday photo session with a family at their home a couple of weeks ago and we were so fortunate to have the most beautiful morning light for our entire session. This was a fun session that included the family dog and lots of smiles and laughter. Here are a few of my favorites from that morning:
Oh, this little one….she is just made for the camera. Her face, her smile, her curls, her bubbly personality….I just can’t get enough of her:-) Here are a few of my favorites from our session:
(Oh and if my posts are a little brief these days, please excuse my lack of words. Just three more weeks, 7 more family sessions, 4 more newborns, and 15 more sessions to edit until the busy season is officially over….and then I will be back to my regular rambling self;-)
After the beautiful, mild temperatures of October, I can hardly complain about the weather this fall. But I guess the warm weather streak had to come to an end at some point and it finally did last week. The good part is that the little cuties in this session had their cozy scarves, mittens, and hats on for most of the session, which was really adorable and makes for the perfect look for holiday photos and cards for the winter season. Here are a few of my favorites from our session:
Well, it seemed to come on a little late this year, but the fall weather is finally here and the leaves are looking beautiful! For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you will know what that means….I have officially entered into my busy season! This is the time of year when everyone wants family photos for holiday cards and gifts, so my typical work schedule doubles or triples in October and November. As a result, I am going to try my very best to get as many session previews posted as I can, but I know there is just no way I will be able to get them all. So if your photos don’t make it to the blog, do not worry! It is completely random who gets previews posted and who doesn’t. Hopefully, I will have some spare time in the winter to go back and put some more of the fall shoots on the blog after the holidays. Keep checking back after the holidays for more fall shoots and my new winter work as well.
This next family was a lot of fun to work with and also planned their wardrobe beautifully! As soon as I saw them, I was very impressed…a perfect mixture of neutrals and bold colors:-) Here are a few of my favorites from their session:
Last week, I had a great family session with a beautiful baby girl who was delivering the most adorable smiles ever! When her parents would make her laugh, she would squeeze her eyes shut and throw her head back every time. It may have been the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. There is so much great stuff to capture at this age where they are crawling and just about to start walking. The whole world is new and fascinating to them, so it is the perfect time to have take some photos to capture these special moments before they pass by.
