Well, it seemed to come on a little late this year, but the fall weather is finally here and the leaves are looking beautiful! For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you will know what that means….I have officially entered into my busy season! This is the time of year when everyone wants family photos for holiday cards and gifts, so my typical work schedule doubles or triples in October and November. As a result, I am going to try my very best to get as many session previews posted as I can, but I know there is just no way I will be able to get them all. So if your photos don’t make it to the blog, do not worry! It is completely random who gets previews posted and who doesn’t. Hopefully, I will have some spare time in the winter to go back and put some more of the fall shoots on the blog after the holidays. Keep checking back after the holidays for more fall shoots and my new winter work as well.
This next family was a lot of fun to work with and also planned their wardrobe beautifully! As soon as I saw them, I was very impressed…a perfect mixture of neutrals and bold colors:-) Here are a few of my favorites from their session:
Last week, I had a great family session with a beautiful baby girl who was delivering the most adorable smiles ever! When her parents would make her laugh, she would squeeze her eyes shut and throw her head back every time. It may have been the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. There is so much great stuff to capture at this age where they are crawling and just about to start walking. The whole world is new and fascinating to them, so it is the perfect time to have take some photos to capture these special moments before they pass by. Here are a few of my favorites from our session:
After being buried in snow for the past 3 days following Blizzard Nemo’s visit to CT, I thought that it might be the perfect time to revisit a few of my sessions from the fall that I still have not posted up on the blog. Just looking at the gorgeous foliage from this particular session is helping me forget about how cold my feet have felt for the past month and a half….how dark and depressing it is outside….and reminds me that soon, the snow will melt and I can get back outside for my family sessions again. I cannot wait! Although there is something very nice about being able to just curl up under a blanket on the couch and sip mugs of hot tea while catching up on TV shows and books that I was too busy to keep up with during my busy season, I really much prefer the more hectic pace (and warm weather) of the spring, summer, and fall.
So with that being said, if you are thinking about booking a spring family photo session, feel free to contact me now to get that on the calendar. Because there is nothing that makes me happier than when I can look at April on the calendar when it is February:-)
Okay, so here are some of my favorite shots from a session I had on October 21st. It was easily the best weekend of the entire fall for photos. The weather was PERFECT and the foliage was at its peak. This particular weekend always books up very early, so if you want to get that type of look for your next family photos, then you are going to want to book your session in late summer to guarantee you secure your fabulous foliage date. Take a look at what they had for a family session backdrop this past October….
I can think of no better way for me to conclude this whirlwind two months of holiday season photo shoots than with my best clients of 2012, who I have been shooting since Kathryn Deane Photography began back in 2009. When I met this family in ’09, they were already a family of five with three adorable little boys and another baby on the way. Now, in 2012, they are a family of seven with four adorable boys and a beautiful little girl. We met up at their town center to shoot some photos by the Christmas tree and lights. I will say that when shooting a family with five children all ages 6 and under, there is a HUGE amount of patience, redirection, flexibility, and incredibly fast movement required to make it all happen. But I am thrilled to say that the M family and I have gotten it pretty much down to a science at this point and I am thrilled with the fact that I was able to capture a number of great shots for their 2012 holiday cards:-) Here are a few of my favorites:
This post begins my last week of session posts for the year! Just four more to post and then I will be keeping the rest of them secret for the purposes of card and gift giving. Although I will miss the hustle and bustle of the fall photography season, I am also looking forward to spending the next three months organizing, learning, seeking out new inspiration, and getting caught up on all of the behind the scenes work of my business. Even more than that, I cannot wait to spend time with my family again! There has been hardly a moment in the past three months that I haven’t been heading off to a photo shoot, preparing for an event, or editing from early in the morning until late into the evening. So after this week, I will finally be able to take a deep breath and start enjoying the holiday season and my family as well. I can’t wait!!!
But, until then, I still have a few more wonderful families to feature as I prepare their images from this past week’s sessions. I met today’s family at the Wethersfield Cove this past weekend. They were fortunate enough to have booked a December session, but still had beautiful 50+ degree weather. It was amazingly warm! Thanks to the E family for allowing me to capture these beautiful photos of your family. Here are a few of my favorites from the session:
I always like a photo that is a little silly…The headlock is awesome:-)
I have shot a few of my holiday sessions recently at Westmoor Park in West Hartford. It is a great little spot tucked away from all of the hustle and bustle of our big town, where you can take your kids to visit a small farm with real farm animals. It’s a very popular destination for parents with small children as there is nothing more entertaining to little ones than animals, especially ones that make great sounds. The little one in these photos was very eager to show off her animal sound skills throughout our session. She could not get enough of the moos, baas, and all the other great sounds at the farm. You can tell just by looking at her face in many of my shots that she is mooing away with the cows. It was so adorable! Here are some of my favorite shots from our sunset session at the farm:
Well, the timing couldn’t be any better to post the photos of the Notre Dame alum family that I shot last weekend. My husband is a Notre Dame alum himself, so I fully understand the intense amount of excitement that is bubbling over amongst fans and alumni this football season. These are some serious fans and they LOOOOOOOVE their football team! So I was very excited when I noticed the ND symbols on the guys’ shirts. I’m sure that they are also beyond excited this week about their team heading off to the national championship game, so congrats to the M family on your team’s big win….oh, and here are some of my favorite shots from your session last weekend. Enjoy!!
They were just cracking themselves up whenever I told them to look at each other. It was too funny! I just had to share this because it is one of my favorite genuine laughter shots ever:-)
This is based on a shot that the kids took when they were much younger. We decided to attempt to re-create it in 2012. They were both very good sports about it and the photo came out perfect!
The following shot came from a totally spontaneous moment where the littlest M just snuggled into her mom and said, ” I love you, Mom”…..oh….my….goodness….I could cry just thinking about it. That’s how sweet it was:-)
