I had a super adorable and smiley newborn baby boy in my studio last week for his very first photo shoot. We got tons of great photos of him alone, with his parents, and also with both sets of grandparents as well. The first photo is one of my favorite newborn photos ever. It is extremely rare to get a shot like this of a newborn smiling and also looking directly at the camera (without crossed eyes!) and especially rare for a baby that is just one week old. Here are several of my favorites from this session:
It seems like just yesterday that I shot this sweet couple’s beautiful maternity session in the park, but a few months have now passed and finally she has arrived!! Their gorgeous little girl is here and we had a fantastic newborn session a couple of weeks back. Here are a few of my favorites from our session:
This session is a perfect example of how well newborn photos can turn out, even if the baby gets a little fussy about being changed and moved around for photos. This little guy did not like be unwrapped or laid down to sleep without being held. He much preferred being swaddled and snuggled, which I really can’t blame him on that one! But with a little creativity and patience, we were able to settle him down and set him up so that we could get all those great shots we wanted in between the times of crying. So no worries new moms! You can still get beautiful photos even if your baby cries or gets fussy. Here are a few of my favorites from the gorgeous Baby’s C’s session:
It has been a long, long time since I wrote anything on this blog. To be honest, I hit the wall around mid November. My photo shoot/editing schedule was so insane, that it literally took every free minute of every day for an entire month to get everything done that I needed to do. Though I intended to retroactively blog all of those missed sessions, I just couldn’t tear myself away from my family for the rest of December and January. I had been absent for far too long from family time, so I spent those first 6 weeks of winter just focusing on my family and taking a break from shooting so that I could come back refreshed and ready for 2014.
But now it is February and I am officially back! I have also have something new I’d like to do more often in 2014….I have two different sources (which I will blog more about later) that have inspired me to share at least one real, raw moment from my sessions. One moment in time where there wasn’t perfection…but the reality is beautiful and perfect in it’s imperfection. Today’s real shot came towards the end of our session. The baby was really crying and screaming at this point. She had been a champ for the full two hours, but was hungry and ready to be done with her shoot. We still had a few family shots to do, so we were working overtime to calm the baby down so we could get those photos. In the real moment shot that I included below, the baby’s dad gave her a snuggle and kiss in the midst of her screaming. It was so sweet, and real too. I hope you enjoy the photos and I am excited to be back sharing my work with everyone:-) So here is a little preview from my first newborn session of 2014:
